Set and update the maintenance period on a license key

A license key has a maintenance period — the time window during which the licensed runtime is entitled to receive updates. The maintenance period is separate from the license expiry: a license can stay valid, while updates may require an active maintenance window. The period is chosen as a number of months (12, 24, 36, or unlimited), not as a calendar end date.

Set the maintenance period when issuing a key

Section titled “Set the maintenance period when issuing a key”
  1. In the Portal, open the organization’s license keys and use the Add license keys action (the green + button).
  2. Fill in the product, feature, and key-count fields as usual.
  3. In the Maintenance period drop-down, pick the included window (12, 24, or 36 months, or unlimited).
  4. Save the key. The key encodes the maintenance period.

Update the maintenance period on an existing key

Section titled “Update the maintenance period on an existing key”
  1. In the license keys list, find the key whose maintenance you want to extend.
  2. Use the dedicated Extend maintenance period action (the clock icon on the key) — maintenance is not edited inline.
  3. In the dialog, pick the additional period in months (typically after renewing the customer’s maintenance contract) and confirm.
  4. The customer can refresh their runtime to receive the updated entitlement.
