Edge Admin Overview

Administer an edge device on the device itself using the on-device admin web UI (edge-admin-ui): sign in locally and review/manage the device from its details view.

  • Prerequisites: A reachable edge device running the on-device admin UI, plus its local admin login.
  • Required role/permission: The device’s local admin account. This is separate from your cloud portal role.
  • Settings that affect behavior:
    • Device admin password — the local admin credential gates access; it can be changed on the device.
    • Device connectivity — whether the device is claimed/connected to the cloud affects what is shown and what can be managed remotely vs locally.
    • Outbound proxy — if configured, the device reaches the cloud through a proxy (see Edge outbound proxy).
  1. On the device’s network, open the edge-admin-ui login page.
  2. Sign in with the device’s local admin credentials.
  3. Open the device details view to review status, runtime, and configuration.
  4. Perform on-device administration as needed (e.g. change admin password, inspect the runtime/logs).
