Reset retained values

Retained (RETAIN) variables keep their values across runtime restarts. During commissioning or after a recipe change you may want to wipe those values so the runtime starts clean.

Reset retained values from the Portal

1. Open the Portal and navigate to Devices.
2. Select the device.
3. In the Actions section of the runtime panel, choose Reset retained (the eraser button, next to Start/Stop/Restart).
4. Confirm in the Reset retained values? dialog.

Note

The action is only available when the runtime is installed and stopped, so stop the runtime first if it is running.

The retained memory is cleared, and on the next start each retained variable comes up at its declared initial value.

Note

The reset is recorded in the device’s Activity log, so supervisors can see when and from where it was triggered.

Danger

Resetting retained values is destructive — recipes, counters, and any other RETAIN variable will lose their current values. Make sure the machine is in a safe state before continuing.
